Race Relations Act 1976

Under the Race Relations Act 1976 (RRA) people are protected against discrimination on racial grounds.  Racial grounds are defined as colour, race, nationality, or ethnic or national origins.  It covers employment, education, housing, advertising, and the provision of goods and services.

Broadcasting Act 1990

The broadcasting act is a framework for the regulation of television and radio services, the satellite and cable television services are also under this act.

Obscene Publications Act 1959

This law makes it an offence to publish, weather for gain or not. This could include publishing someone else’s book or film that they have made.

BBFC

The BBFC are a independent non-governmental body which has classified cinema films since it was set up in 1912, where it replaced the British film council.

OFCOM

Ofcom is the communications regulator in the UK. They regulate the TV, radio and video on demand sectors, fixed line telecoms, mobiles, postal services, plus the airwaves over which wireless devices operate.

In the past few years streaming has grown more and more, it seems to be the easiest way for people to steam contact to themselves anywhere they are, the reason it has grown so fast is because there so many platforms for streaming to stand on its hard for it not to be adopted by people.

On Demand Viewing

Video on demand allows users to watch content when they want to, rather than having to wait for it to be broadcasted on TV. You can watch on demand content on smart TV’s, phones, tablets, and laptops etc.

HD

HD (High Definition) is the quality of something, it is the number of lines in the vertical display resolution for example High Definition television (HDTV) resolution is 1,080 or 720 lines.
